wisc -

Try this one before all others. The sound in the silence between notes is epic. The tempo is perfect, Jer's singing is magical. If you are allergic to hyperbole, stop reading. It's by far and away the best version out there, IMO of course.

My wife has agreed that this (along with Brokedown from 6/8/77) will be played at my funeral.

He Mando. I'm in Manteo, NC for the next couple weeks.

Would you like to meet for a couple beers or a dinner in Vah Beach?

I love the outer banks. When i was in graduate school, a vacation meant throwing up a tent at one of the sites on the beach for 8 bucks a night (oregon inlet or salvo usually), filling a cooler full of cheap beer and fishing for dinner in the surf (blues or flounder) My guess is that you aren't out there with a surf rod.

The Outer Banks are a great place to be this time of year. Unfortunately there is a tropical storm offshore which is keeping the longliners at the dock (I'm down here buying tuna).

I'm sure Mando will find some good music to enjoy while I'm in the area.

Absolutely - let's do it.

We can go from there - I'll check the local music schedule and see what's in the area if you would be interested.

The Jewish Mother sounds great on Friday, Rick. I might catch the Mustang Music Festival, that looks neat, sorry you can't make that one. I'll give you a call this evening. Looking forward to meeting you!

Cliff - are you trying out for next season's cast of "The Lost Colony"? 75th Anniversary. Hey, it got Andy Griffith his big start...

Envy you - lots of great, great times on Hatteras and Ocracoke. Hope the fishing is great.

Very nice indeed!! I wasn't familiar with this particular one. Giving it a listen just now, there is something about it.... Seems more poignant or powerful or something than others i have heard. Being one of your "funeral" songs, I'm pretty sure you have pointed this one out before. Shame on me for not paying attention!!

FWIW... the rest of the show sounds pretty good also!!
The boys are in sync and Jerry is using the midi judicously and tastefully. Which is good, because IMO, he could tend to get carried away with it at times.
The He's gone jam is not to be missed. Has a considerable amount of "WOW" factor. It incorporates a little bit of alot of things (He's Gone, Miracle, Smokestack, Too). Seems they can't decide where they want to go, so in the end they just put down the guitars and let the drummers have their fun.

Good call Frank -

I was focused on the SOTM and didn't really bring up that the rest of the show was pretty damn good too.

On a separate note - my trip to Wilmington to see the Cheese on 12/01 is in jeopardy. Mrs. Mando may be lifting my kitchen pass and we may be headed to NY to help some friends move in to their new house. Why a 37 weeks pregnant woman can't move herself is beyond me......
